Enjoy a full day traveling through the lesser seen natural beauty that is the North shore, East End and Far Side of Roatan…you’ll be amazed at the contrast. Beautiful mangrove cuts and channels, deserted sandy beaches, awesome snorkelling spots and a calm lagoon to traverse the length of the island and beyond.
Our day starts by leaving West End and snaking up the inner lagoon to our first snorkelling location, the shipwrecked ‘Snyg’ that sunk, barely, in 1899…..yes, it’s an old one and has tons of shallow living corals attached to it. Further along the lagoon, passing Pristine Bay, we have the stunning Big Bight channel and sand patch. This area is dotted with sea stars, stingrays and a wealth of soft corals and marine life just below the surface….a snorkellers dream and a great stop for snacking and chilling.
Moving up island we pass the Garifuna community of ‘Punta Gorda’ where there’s an option to stop and experience some island dance, culture and cuisine.
Heading to the tip of the End of Roatan we’ll explore the tranquil, mile long mangrove cut and look for bird life above the mangroves and tarpon, barracuda and crocodiles beneath. The cut takes us through to the South side of the island and on a calm day we can actually continue and circumnavigate the island.
A stop at the Pigeon Cay sand bar next to the private island of Barbareta often provides us with some nurse and or lemon shark snorkelling for the adventurous!
Cruising back down island we can swim, snorkel, fish, kick back and relax….the boat ‘bar’ will be open!
Picnic lunch onboard or we can stop at one of the numerous, secluded, on the water restaurants…..it’s a tailor-made trip so tell us your preferences.
